Meet the doctor behind Madrona Dental Care

When I think about how I found my way into dentistry, it really started early. I grew up in the Tri-Cities in eastern Washington, and my family dentist lived next door. He used to tell me, starting around age 13, that I would make a great dentist. I did not fully listen until I was 23, when I shadowed him after college and realized this was a career where I could truly help people in a meaningful, hands-on way.

I earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a minor in Music from Duke University, then went on to receive my Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the Temple University School of Dentistry. I have now been practicing for 20 years, and my post-graduate education has played a major role in shaping how I care for patients. As a graduate of the Kois Center in Seattle, I place a strong emphasis on accurate diagnosis, understanding the cause of dental disease, and giving patients clear choices for treatment based on their needs and concerns.

A small team with a calm, professional approach

At Madrona Dental Care, we are a small but well-oiled machine. Our team works closely together, and everyone understands their role in helping patients feel informed, cared for, and comfortable throughout their visit. That teamwork matters because it helps create the kind of steady, calm environment many people are looking for when they come to the dentist.

Our office is clean, inviting, professional, and relaxed. We offer a beverage station in the reception area and headphones in each operatory to help patients settle in and feel more at ease. We also work hard to stay current with technology, including Guided Biofilm Therapy with the EMS Airflow Prophy Master, which has made cleanings a much better experience for many of our patients.

Comprehensive care with a focus on thoughtful diagnosis

Our practice is focused on high-quality, comprehensive dental care, with particular emphasis on preventive care, periodontal care, restorative treatment, oral surgery, extractions, and same-day emergency appointments. We often see patients who want more than a quick look or a rushed explanation. They want to understand what is going on, why it is happening, and what their options are. That is exactly how I approach care.

For new patients, that thoroughness starts right away. We review medical and dental history, take diagnostic photos, complete any necessary x-rays, perform a bacterial screening test, and evaluate a number of important areas including oral cancer screening, periodontal health, tooth structure, TMJ, orthodontic considerations, and cosmetic concerns. From there, we talk through findings and treatment choices together. For patients in Anacortes and surrounding communities who value a detailed, education-first approach, Madrona Dental Care is designed to offer that kind of experience.
