About Us
Dentistry shaped by curiosity, clarity, and care
At Madrona Dental Care, we believe the best dentistry begins with understanding.
Dr. Gray’s approach is thoughtful by design: listen closely, evaluate carefully, identify the cause when possible, and help you make sense of your options. Here, patients are not simply told what they need. They are guided, educated, and invited into the conversation.

Meet the dentist behind the details
Meet Dr. Gray
Dr. Matthew Gray has been practicing dentistry for 20 years, bringing a thoughtful, highly diagnostic approach to patient care at Madrona Dental Care. Patients often know him as Dr. Gray, though he is just as comfortable being called Matt.
A graduate of the Kois Center in Seattle, Dr. Gray considers his post-graduate education one of the defining influences in how he practices dentistry. That training shaped the way he looks at oral health: not as a collection of isolated teeth, but as a system of function, risk, biology, esthetics, and long-term wellness.
His philosophy is simple and intentional: accurately diagnose a patient’s current oral health, identify the cause of disease when possible, and offer treatment choices that address the patient’s concerns. It is an approach rooted in careful thinking, honest communication, and respect for each patient’s ability to make informed decisions.
Dr. Gray grew up in the Tri-Cities in eastern Washington. His path into dentistry began with a family dentist who told him, starting around age 13, that he would make a great dentist. Years later, after college, Dr. Gray shadowed him and realized the profession brought together many of the things he valued: science, problem-solving, precision, and the chance to help people in a meaningful way.
He earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in Music from Duke University, followed by his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the Temple University School of Dentistry. Today, that mix of scientific training, curiosity, and communication shows up in the way he cares for patients.
Dr. Gray sees himself as both a healthcare provider and a teacher. He takes time to explain what he sees, why it matters, and what choices are available, so patients can move forward with clarity rather than uncertainty.
He especially enjoys the transformation that can happen through restorative and functional dentistry, including full-mouth rehabilitation cases, crown and bridge treatment, and implant-supported care completed in collaboration with trusted specialists when needed. Outside the office, Dr. Gray enjoys time with his wife and daughter, hiking, and watching sports.

The heart of Madrona Dental Care
Small by design, steady by nature
Madrona Dental Care is a small but well-coordinated team, and patients can feel that in the rhythm of the office.
Each team member knows their role, supports the people around them, and helps create an experience that feels organized, calm, and personal. We value professionalism without stiffness, warmth without distraction, and communication that helps patients feel at ease from the moment they arrive.
A closer look from the beginning
Your first visit
Your first visit at Madrona Dental Care is designed to give Dr. Gray a complete, useful picture of your oral health — and to help you understand that picture, too.
Before your appointment, you will complete your medical and dental history forms online. This gives Dr. Gray important context before you arrive and allows your visit to begin with more meaningful conversation.
Once you are here, our team will review your history and guide you through a detailed diagnostic process. This may include facial and intraoral photographs, necessary x-rays, a simple bacterial screening test, and a comprehensive evaluation of your gums, tooth structure, bite, jaw joints, oral cancer risk, orthodontic considerations, cosmetic concerns, and overall dental risk.
From there, Dr. Gray talks with you about his findings, your goals, and your treatment options. The purpose is not to overwhelm you with information. It is to give you context, clarity, and a better understanding of what your mouth may need now and in the future.
